Link Widgets

Here you'll find the different ways you can link to other pages.

Text

Of course, you can easily insert links directly into the text. However, it is important to ensure that links to pages on the same site (e.g., to the homepage of this test site) open in the same tab, while links to external sites (e.g., to the University of Bayreuth’s homepage) open in a new tab.

Buttons

Instead of including links in the text, you can insert buttons to make the links stand out more. You can also change the background color of the buttons.

Info Cards

Info Cards can be used to link to pages with images and descriptions of any length.

Special links, such as to an address on Google Maps or to a YouTube video, can also be inserted using widgets designed specifically for this purpose.

Mini Cards

Mini Cards can only be added at the bottom of the page by clicking on the grey plus icon. They can either be automatically populated with the subpages of the current page or selected manually in the widget properties. Both internal links to subpages of your own site and links to pages within the same section are possible. To do this, when creating the Mini Cards in the Content Browser, select the ‘All web pages’ filter and then choose the page you wish to link to.

The order of the Mini Cards can be changed in the widget properties using drag and drop. By default, the banner image of the linked page is used as the image. If no image is available there, no image will be displayed. Therefore, as shown in the example below, a consistent preview image should be selected in the widget properties as a ‘fallback image’ for all cards. Furthermore, in the page properties of the respective linked subpage, under ‘General’ > ‘Preview image’, an individual image (which may differ from the banner image of the linked page) can be specified.
